Quincy Riverfront Pix
Quincy’s not in MAJOR danger, since it’s mostly on an 80 foot bluff- but the riverfront is already mostly flooded, and the water plant is in danger. It provides water for 100,000 people in Quincy area- if it floods over, they’ll all lose water service for months. The IEMA (Illinois’ FEMA) has declared Quincy’s water treatment plant as its top priority. Volunteers have travelled from as far as Ohio to help sandbag. Barack Obama showed up to pledge his support but his presence actually shut the operation down for about three hours.
Thanks David’s mother-in-law for the pictures.
