Leslie made a cake for her lab. It’s a proteasome being attacked by a prion. Proteasomes live inside of our cells and unravel mis-folded proteins to recycle the amino acids- but here, a prion aggregate has prevented this crucial step. As a result, the organism dies the most horrible, gruesome death imaginable.
